PUTRAJAYA: The National Economic Council will decide Friday on any revision to the electricity tariff.
Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Peter Chinsaid the Cabinet had on Wednesday directed the council to deliberate on the matter.
"The Cabinet left it to the council to make the final decision.
"There will be a meeting on Friday and the council will decide whether we will finally introduce a new tariff," he told newsmen after launching the 'Dare to Dream Challenge' at the Limkokwing University in Cyberjaya here Thursday.
The competition is in conjunction with the 2011 International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (iGEM).
The council panel is chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also the Finance Minister, and comprises 12 members, including senior Cabinet ministers such as Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah.
On Wednesday, the Government announced that the prices of RON95 petrol, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas will remain at present rates.
